Seletar Close // The Apartment House
- minimalism, functionality and pure madness. House S by Belgian architects dmvA who add:
"The concept of the central void with glass floors also bears an educational aspect. By means of the glass floors, a spacial transparency is created through which all spaces are connected. Children are brought up with the emphasis of living together as one of the main principles of education. At the same time everyone has a disposal of his or her own space."

Seletar Close // The Apartment House
- this is very close to perfection. materials, volumes, details // if only it had a view.
"Family and lifestyle patterns have changed throughout times, however sometimes it’s good to keep traditional patterns in modern lifestyles. Singaporean practice Formwerkz Architects has completed such a contemporary house in Seletar Estate, Singapore where the idea of cluster living “apartments” with open communal spaces was devised for the multi-generation families living under one roof. While paying close attention to the needs of the end user and constructing a residence from the primary state, Formwerks focused on the requests of each person on an individual basis as well as their function as a group or a whole. olafur the genius

via olafureliasson.net
- just came across some old MA research notes on mirrors in interior surfaces and in them, these projects by Danish-Icelandic visual artist Olafur Eliasson. I would rather call him a spatial magician-cum-connoisseur myself, mostly because of his ability to justify and amaze equally. although almost every piece of his is worth a comment, I am always drawn to his particular and quite surreal use of reflective surfaces to create the illusion of added space. Seen above, his works 'Take Your Time', 2008, 'Frost Activity', 2003, and 'The Weather Project', 2003. Do watch this if impressed:

jonsi time
via jonsi
- Jón Þór Birgisson, or Jonsi, vocalist of icelandic group sigur ros and half of jonsi and alex has returned to the studio for a solo album. highly anticipated samples can be triggered from the individual letters in his homepage header :) and the album making process is shared through his own pictures and videos. brilliant.
alyssa monks
- sometimes i come across visual artists who have an eye for the realistic. i wrote earlier about juan francisco casas who produces mindblowing bic pen drawings. this is Alyssa Monks who paints, amongst other things, shower scenes. initimate, comical, realistic and fantastically accurate representations of wet faces behind glass. quite something.
