- some people have talent, some people have more. graphic, photographic and musical brilliance from one man band alex cornell. Tilt shift 'miniature' photography is by veteran of the style, Japanese photographer Naoki Honjo - more to come on that.

why not?

- dudes and dudettes know how to celebrate. screw tradition, we're doing it our way.

if only she knew language

- I've seen babies talk and I've seen them attempt to get a point across, but I have never seen the likes of this. There's something incredibly humbling about infant intelligence. Hope my own children are even remotely as expressive as this. I'd have a conversation with her anyday.

too true.
some things I just don't have the cojones to attempt. this is one.

- idea + time = something to show your friends and then the world.

Less talent, more hilarious, unecessary rage.

- now there's losing your temper, then there is losing your mind in violent velociraptor-like spasms, creatively utilizing objects strewn about your bedroom (magic undressing blanket, unfortunate remote and battering shoe), unaware of the comic relief brought to millions.

Parents who don't realize the extent of their children's obsessions end up with squirrel-boy below.

personally, I tend to stick to the words of mr. mcferrin:

- this guy is for real it seems. not laughed this hard since the master drop-kicker below.

"jus' kick'it!"

- I'm in tears and stitches. learning curves suck yet make fantastic comedy.

black cab sessions

Bon Iver from Black Cab Sessions on Vimeo.

- massive ideas demand massive posts (had tons here but unfortunately they don't allow embedding so make your way over to vimeo for the videos): this sort of improvised thinking creates a creative value that sits outside the realms of the traditional music marketplace. like a lot of things on this blog it is simple, effective and beautiful. it reminds me a lot of
blogotheque ideology. go to the vimeo site for close to a hundred more sessions, and if you've not heard the artists take some time to google them. it seems artists with little flare pull this sort of gig off best - of them all, these would be my favourites: bon iver, ane brun, stephen fretwell, fleet foxes + lykke li...

wintour

- "Anna Wintour, the legendary editor-in-chief of Vogue magazine for twenty years, is the most powerful and polarizing figure in fashion. Hidden behind her trademark bob and sunglasses, she has never allowed anyone to scrutinize the inner workings of her magazine. Until now. With unprecedented access, filmmaker R.J. Cutlers new film, takes the viewer inside a world they only think they know. Every August a record-breaking number of people cant wait to get their hands on the September issue of Vogue. The 2007 issue was and remains the biggest ever, weighing over four pounds, selling thirteen million copies, and impacting the $300-billion global fashion industry more than any other single publication. He takes us behind the scenes at Fashion Week, to Europe, on shoots and re-shoots, and into closed-door staff meetings, bearing witness to an arduous, entertaining, and sometimes emotionally demanding process. At the eye of this annual fashion hurricane is the two-decade relationship between Wintour and Grace Coddington, incomparable Creative Director and fashion genius. They are perfectly matched for the age-old conflict between creator and curator. Through them, we see close-up the delicate creative chemistry it takes to remain at the top of the ever-changing fashion field." via youtube

pretty high strung. yet intensely fascinating.

dumpster pool in brooklyn

via inhabitat
- “We heard about dumpster pools—one was done by Curtis Crowe of the band Pylon in Athens, Georgia a few years ago, and others have done it, but usually smaller—and decided we wanted to do it this summer in Brooklyn as a test site/prototype. We (David Belt, Alix Feinkind, and myself, who are Macro-Sea) heard about it in late February. In late May we found the location, and from the time we got the dumpsters to the opening on July 4th was 12 days. We would like to do them in the parking lots of the strip malls and show people that with not too much expense you can creatively reuse what is basically considered urban detritus and make something really cool and fun and also fairly easy to put together.” via readymade

ramette's perspectives

- "It's been said a basic function of art is to change our perspective. Philippe Ramette has taken that quite literally. Ramette is a French artist who has been creating his unique photographic perspectives since the early '90s. Ramette himself has commented that his work is intended to spark contemplation of not simply an object, but the endless and future possibilities of said object through a variety of means." via wordofmouth

i do enjoy stumbling upon those who ponder the same notions of photography as I have the tendency to do. ramette is brilliant. literally brilliant
